The Comedian / Kick-Ass

Characters Age: Mid-30s, but looks rather young for his age; attributed to reconstructive surgery.

Universe of Origin: Marvel/DCU
Personality: David Blake is a rather easygoing sort of guy, who loves simple pleasures. A big tasty meal, dancing at a club, curbstomping some punk or another, and saving the day. An avid fan of superpowered superheroes, he handles people with a kind of tranquil fury, and has been described by fans as well as detractors as a kind of 'crouching moron, hidden badass'. Unafraid to take the fight to anyone who deserves it, heedless of being outmatched and outgunned, David Blake is incredibly stubborn and strong-willed. Unfortuneately, he also has a mean, violent streak that comes from years of childhood problems, resulting in him losing his temper when under duress, and fighting with deadly force. He prefers melee confrontations, as they're more personal, and the feel of someone giving way to your fist is quite intimate in his explanation, a secret shared.
Background: David Blake was born to a rather loving pair of parents, who did their best to instill kindness and compassion in their son. Quite intelligent, he was skipped ahead in grades, and when his lack of any real bonding with the children at his school became apparant in a rash of bloody fistfights, he was pulled out and homeschooled. Before highschool, he was dealt his first lesson in life; no matter what you love and what you think, someone will be there to take it away from you. His parents were killed in a car accident, caused by a getaway driver speeding down the street, his buddy clutching a bag of some four hundred dollars and a few cartons of smokes. His life, shattered for half a grand.
Embittered, depressed, and lashing out at anyone who tried to help him, David bounced between halfway houses and adoptive (sometimes abusive) families, until he reached the age of majority and was unleashed onto the streets under his own power. He tried to let his past go, and contribute to a community, getting an apartment for cheap in the rough side of town, and helping out at soup kitchens and other volunteer activities. One evening on his way home, he was accosted by a small group of thugs, who didn't like him being such a goody-goody. One thing led to another, knives were pulled, and David wound up severely beaten, stabbed multiple times, and on his way to an early grave in a hospital operating room. Quick thinking and good training saved his life that day, and after months of psychotherapy as well as physiotherapy, David was back in control of his temper, and his body, a cool and calculating person who exuded friendliness and approachability.
He continued his habit of helping out in his community, but with a much different bent. He became "Jack-Ass", a crimefighting vigilante, who quickly became the hero of that community. As Jack-Ass, David is more violent, and prone to deadly outbursts of anger, finding the resolve to do "what needs to be done." from his past, something he wishes never to have to repeat. Sure, the news often said, people sometimes wound up dead, but it was this reporter's opinion that nothing worth saving had ever been lost to Jack-Ass.
Sexuality: Straight, though he has trouble relating to women, possibly because of abuse in his childhood.
Powers and/or Special Skills: Massive pain tolerance due to a combination of dead nerves and metal plates/supports in his body. Jack-Ass has had plenty of beatings, and has needed a lot of hospital care, including reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Otherwise, he's just another guy.

Anything else we should know?: David Blake is a heavy cigar smoker and violent drunk, but otherwise is a rather good guy. His costume is pretty much Kick-Ass's wetsuit/mask combo, with the smilieface pins and armored arm/legwear of the Comedian.
